HELLO HELLO! I'm back again after a little more than a month - so slack, I know. Not much happened in June until towards the end of the month due to exams and stuff.
NANCY'S 19TH BIRTHDAY - 10/06/15
Nancy had some low key chills for her 19th which pretty much consisted of us hanging out at Sunnybank and Mt Cootha! We had to have obligatory ramen for dinner, which was then followed by dessert at Coco Jungle. So Lily and Hellen were planning to surprise Nancy and go buy her a dessert with a candle (which meant they left dinner early), but when Nancy asked where they went I had to say they were in the toilets but Cindy the genius was fully like "No they're not? they're in Coco Jungle?" - I was so done with her HAHAHA. Dessert was a funny affair because Lily and I could not stop laughing for some reason. Had to be there moment? Then we just played at funhouse, got tea, dropped Cindy off and headed to Mt Cootha - which I remember to this day was freezing.
Lily's freaking foot HAHAHA

MID YEAR PARTY - 27/06/15
Since everyone had finished exams and we hadn't had an apartment party for awhile, Jennie decided to organise one for us! The events I recall from that evening are as follows: bussing in with Lily, Ricky and James, coincidentally meeting everyone at GYG before the party, a very turnt Jennie early into the party HAHA, eating lots of lollies, chilling on the balcony, whatsapping with Lily and Nancy from across the room and giving each other dirty looks HAHAHA, A WHOLE LOT OF SINGING WITH EVERYONE - like, I think that was the highlight of the party when we all just gathered around and sang (+ Ricky's awesome dance moves), and of course getting too lit and chundering in the car park whilst getting judged by an old couple, whoops.
Nandos before the party
Mocking that pose when it was really popular HAHA
When they took Lily's phone whilst we were on whatsapp
Besides the fact that I'm not ready, this is a cute photo hehe
Pls ignore the contrast in editing LOL
WONDERLAND - 28/06/15
Yes. I went out again the night after with Anh to my first ever Wonderland event! I'd always been really iffy about Wonderland, but since it was the holidays I thought I might as well go and see what it was all about. Firstly, the event was advertised as a 'winter wonderland' and throughout the night there was not one speck of fake snow so I was pretty disappointed as lame as it sounds HAHA. I can't actually remember much of the night but I do remember getting free tequila shots from these girls and that the club was really packed. My first impressions were that if you go with the right people, it can be fun (yes, you were a great companion Anh hehe) but the music wasn't all that great.
Was pretty excited to see the famous Wonderland toilets HAHA

TIEN'S 19TH BIRTHDAY - 16/05/15
For the Autumn fairy's 19th birthday, she once more hosted a house party! The party started with us early comers sitting around watching music festival videos whilst marvelling Jennie and her goon sack. Once everyone started arriving we moved out onto the balcony for drinks and pizza, which was probably the stage where I accompanied Linh and Ling to Baskin Robbins so they could buy Tien a surprise birthday cake! Cake cutting and present opening then ensued before we started playing board games (monopoly, pictionary and taboo). As some people got a bit more buzzed we then decided to take the party elsewhere! Our car ride in Linh's car (I think it was Linh's car...) was hilarious because of Ling and her helicopter goon sack HAHA. Anyway, bungle was closed (cue Jennie and her falsetto singing) so we ended our night with some yumcha from Haoke. I'm pretty sure we all almost fell asleep from the wait but it was a memorable adventure, as was the night!
Candid photo of Linh during story time on the balcony (tales of electronics)
MY 19TH BIRTHDAY - 29/05/15
For my 19th birthday I decided to do dinner, karaoke and clubbing. After racking through pages of Urbanspoon listings, I settled for Verve as the dinner venue! Knowing me, I was once again late for my own birthday but that didn't cause too many problems since our table wasn't ready upon our arrival anyway, so we all just hung around the bar and caught up until it was. Dinner was a tame affair and thankfully everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. If you've never tried Verve (in the city) then I highly recommend you do! It's an underground Italian restaurant and cider house - I think what amused all of us was how dark it was down there. Like really. I don't know how much darker it could've gotten (gave off a romantic vibe though HAHA). After filling up on pasta and cider we retired upstairs to take group photos and then some of us parted ways whilst some headed to karaoke. All I have to say about the rest of the night is that Stacey definitely stole the show at kara, digging into her inner 'Ye whilst Lily went clubbing for the first time ever (even though it has since put her off because OPM was complete shit). Thanks to my lovely friends for coming!
When the restaurant has shit lighting for photos, you over edit.

2015 Recap: April
Thursday, February 4, 2016 @ 3:25 PM
Hi friends! I'm back from Melbourne and back into updating :) I actually had such a good time away and I'm quite excited to post about this year's trip but in the meantime lets pick up where we left off.
OPM + ZATOX - 3/04/15
OPM Brisbane's grand opening event left quite the bad impression on most partygoers that attended that night (AHEM, LONG ASS WAIT TIME), but surprisingly, I actually had a really good night so I thought it'd be blog worthy especially since not much happened in April anyway. Started the night off at Nancy's house and it was already exciting since it was Stacey's first time clubbing with us and also the end of my 4 month sober streak! Fast forward to the worst part of the evening, THE. WAIT. TIME. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we waited almost an hour and a half to get into the club - even with tickets. It got so bad that people started leaving and selling their tickets to other people. All I have to say is I'm so glad I didn't wear heels that night. Once inside though, we had so much fun dancing with everyone we knew upstairs - Nancy and I lost it when Zombie Nation dropped and the vibes got even better when Zatox was playing. His set went hard and I was so pumped just waiting to hear "THIS IS THE NEW WORLD ORDER" Side note: Unfortunately though, the first OPM was the only one of the year I can praise.
Snapped this whilst Stacey was running to the toilet HAHA
In line waiting - our smiles disappeared real fast after awhile
Please excuse the potato quality. I tried my best.
YOUNG SUMMER FASHION SHOW - 9/04/15
Never heard of this event before? Don't worry, I've taken the courtesy of copying and pasting this excerpt off their website for you (low key cause I'm lazy to explain) -
"Young Summer is Brisbane's newest fashion show, with the objective of promoting young and upcoming emerging designers. Whether they specialise in clothing or accessories, Young Summer 2015 promises a high standard in its means of promoting their brand to the younger market. The inclusion of the word 'Summer' in the name reflects the choice of theme for the show, which is complimented by a summer cocktail dress code." So yeah pretty much, Bessie invited me to accompany her and I obliged! Met up with Bessie and Sarah at Inala to take a bus, but halfway we ditched the bus and got off at Moorooka to request an Uber and I was getting pretty freaked out because we were standing alone in the middle of the night looking super vulnerable and there was a suss car across the road but all was good and well because we eventually got to Oh Hello alive. Upon entering the venue, we were all confused because it was super small and we couldn't really figure out where the runway was - until we realised that it was only a small strip at the back of the room and felt quite underwhelmed so we decided to go somewhere for drinks until the venue got livelier. Settled for Wagaya, stayed for about 30-40 mins and then headed back. Tbh, I didn't really enjoy the atmosphere for some reason and only 3/16 designers caught my eye (Hunting Faith the Label, Cleopatra Jackon, Fabled and True) - but luckily the good looking male models made the evening somewhat worthwhile. Bessie was fangirling so hard over the models it was so funny. She also made it over to the VIP seating area somehow? So Sarah and I were just chilling and managed to get selfies with Skye from Big Brother! Ubered home at the end of the night and OMG, it was a hilarious ride because Bessie was getting hit on (jokingly) by the driver and Sarah and I were dying but Bessie was having none of it and giving the driver such a cold shoulder HAHAHA - don't kill me for making you relive this Bessie.
Bessie looks so fierce in this photo. I love it.

2015 Recap: March

Just a little disclaimer before I continue to say that I'm heading to Melbourne tomorrow for my annual holiday, which means that the vlogs and blog posts will be put on hold probably until February!
JAMES' 19TH BIRTHDAY - 1/03/15
James had a little gatho at his house for his 19th and from what I can remember it was a nice and pretty chilled evening - that is if you discount for the fact that everyone left with the urge to pee for the rest of their night. Started off feasting, tasting the numerous jelly bellies at the table, then watched the guys watch some CS tournament? I think it was, but they brought a screen outside and everything LOL. Once we headed inside everyone sat in a huge circle and we started playing card games where the losers would have to drink a cup of water and you couldn't go to the toilet. I lost so many times I lost count of the trips I made to the toilet but it was so funny. Highlight of the party would have to be when James cut the cake and gave Lily a smooch - it was the start of something new.
This kept us entertained for quite a while
FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL - 7/03/15
Every time I think about Future I get this bittersweet feeling because I'm glad I got to experience it but also because there won't be another one :( In hindsight however, it was probably one of the best days of 2015 as a result of numerous things - good company, good music and all round good vibes! Started the day off with Nancy and Stacey and then met up with Tien, Linh and Ling there. Memorable moments were: learning how to gabber through YouTube whilst waiting for Darude to drop Sandstorm, Martin Garrix, Martin Garrix and oh, did I mention, MARTIN GARRIX?! He had the best freaking set ever :') and also, 2 Chainz had the most ratchet crowd ever. We were just chillin until the camera panned around the crowd and chicks started flashing their boobs for the big screen - had to be there moment. Drake was also pretty epic and Avicii's set was disappointing - I'm still salty til this day because he never said bye or thanked the crowd before leaving. Avicii aside, it was a hella good day no doubt.

ANGELA'S 19TH BIRTHDAY - 21/03/15
Angela hosted her birthday at Echoes Karaoke (at like 11:30pm?) It had already been a pretty eventful evening for me because I came straight from the Broncos vs Cowboys game but that didn't stop me from belting out tunes with everyone (despite the fact I was screaming so much at the game). Pretty sure the party just consisted of people getting buzzed, singing, singing happy birthday to Angela and then stumbling out of the place at like 3am haha.
Unfortunately, karaoke lighting means minimal, or in my case, virtually no photos
BESSIE'S 20TH BIRTHDAY - 28/03/15
Bessie hosted such a cute house party for her 20th! I don't know if she was trying to channel her inner youth (cough, cause she's basically a granny now), but the decor and activities planned that day were really reminiscent of old childhood parties, which was quite a welcomed change. She cooked a nice meal for us (thank goodness I'm still alive and typing rn), prepared a really cool 'photo booth' with props and all and had a number of games set out. When we weren't completely immersed with taking photos, Bessie introduced us to the "Of course" game (which you'll see in the vlog) where the aim is to say a sentence (can be as ridiculous as you want) to your opponent and they have to respond with 'of course' and think of a rebuttal within a short period of time. It may not sound like it, but it was pretty challenging and kept you on your feet (some of them were pre funny). Also played charades and the running man photo game. Props to Bessie for taking good care of us and providing the DSLR photos below.
