2014 Recap: 1st Quarter
Monday, December 22, 2014 @ 8:10 PM
Hello to anyone that still checks this blog! I know I have neglected this space for a whole two years now, but I really want to try and get back into the swing of updating, so what better time than to do a recap of 2014! I know every year we all say "the year has gone by so fast!", but seriously, this year trumps all other years. With starting university and all the 18th birthdays, it's safe to say it has been a pretty eventful year, so I will be doing four blog posts recapping each quarter of the year (with vlogs included!) I'm also planning to do another quarterly post on my personal tumblr recapping all the smaller events of 2014, so yes, let's get into it :)

JANUARY

New Years 2014:

Spent new years eve with a small gathering @ my house with: Lily, Hellen, Nancy, Anna & Stacey! Seeing as it was also Stacey's 17th birthday, it was also a mini celebration for that. Ushered in the new year with pizza, KFC, drinks, monopoly and sparklers. A memorable moment of the night was taking a shot whenever you landed in jail during monopoly.

Stacey's 17th Birthday:

Stacey celebrated her belated 17th birthday @ oaks iStay on January 3rd and man was it one long night! The night started off calm but then got quite crazy, as with the usual party shenanigans. I remember spending my night battling people in 13, laughing my head off with Hellen in front of a lift full of people before visiting the pool, laughing at Laura's asian flush, staying refuge in passion tree and having insightful/hilarious group conversations with people on the balcony! FEBRUARY

Melbourne Trip:

Spent about 2 weeks in Melbourne for my annual trip and although I had loads of fun catching up with family and what not, for the purpose of keeping this post condensed, I will only be blogging about the three outings I went on with my best friend Anjelina!

(3/2/14) - On the first day we went out, she took me to the city where we pretty much just did the usual whenever I visit. In short, we took photos in Melbourne's notorious graffiti lanes, visited the alleyways which housed popular cafes, had ramen for lunch at Kokoro, tried our best to survive the sudden (cold) weather change, chill out in dessert story and ended our day with crepes from Harajuku Crepes.

What you see stepping out of Flinders St Station

Just one of Melbourne's many alleyways!

Feeling super touristy in my second home. Yes I'm aware we look awkward.

This was quite different from the ramen I'm used to in Brisbane. Seemed more fancy/more options!

(4/2/14) - The very next day, we went back to the city again and went shopping, eating and returned to our favourite chill out spot! I was so tired by the end of the day. I'll let the photos do the talking.

There was a MAJOR train delay and we waited for AGES in heavy wind

I've been wanting to try TGI Friday's for a while and I was so happy when Anjelina agreed to take me! Kind of felt like I was in America, what with the NFL/Boxing playing on TV and the decor. The burgers did not disappoint and I every so often find myself craving one.

Seeing as we weren't that full from TGI's and felt like being daredevils, we both decided to try crazy wings for the first time! Not before buying Gongcha (my first time too), to save us from its wrath of course.

Me with the crazy wing/My face when I accepted my fate. Seriously guys, I took the tiniest nibble and my whole mouth/throat was on fire. I think it's inedible/made for you to fail. Downed my drink in seconds.

Shopped around/took photos/explored The Basement @ Myer for quite some time

Much tourist, such swag

A little tradition we have to return to this spot which is near the Yarra/fed square

(5/2/14) - On my last day in Melbourne before flying off to Sydney, Anjelina and I just spent a low key day at our local shopping centre, Broadmeadows, having lunch, watching Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and then stopped by a local park to exchange our belated birthday gifts.

Quan's 18th Birthday:

For his 18th birthday, Quan hosted a house party on the 12th of February. Admittedly, I don't remember much apart from occasionally dancing, witnessing people play table tennis, "camp" in the backyard whilst have interesting conversations with people, look after Cindy because she was totally smashed AND hitting my head (I was unharmed) on a table because I fell off a spinning chair. Not many photos or vlogs were taken either, oops.

MARCH

Philip's 18th Birthday:

On March 7th Phil held his 18th @ Oaks Festival Towers! Before heading up to the apartment the gal pals and I had a little maccas feast where we all laughed at Stacey's manly eating habits. Once we got to the party the rest of the night was pretty much spent re-enacting the famous oscar selfie, watching people drink heineken from a keg, hangout on the mini balcony catching up on people's uni lives, listen to music from the semi sound proof/half balcony room, going downstairs to eat nandos and the most memorable of all was when a few of us decided to full have a vietnamese conversation in the bedroom towards the end of the night. .... and that brings my 1st quarter of 2014 recap to an end! I hope you were entertained reading because damn that took me a long time to write up. Reminds me why I probably took such a long hiatus, but anyways, look forward to the next three posts because my year got more hectic as it progressed. I'll try my best to get them done before new years but no promises! Oh, and sorry for the annoying vertical videos in the vlogs because I was a newbie to vlogging, AND I hope you enjoyed watching those as much as I enjoy filming/editing them :) Toodlesss.
