2014 Recap: 2nd Quarter

Hello again! Yes, I know, I'm not pushing these posts out as fast as I would've liked, and so they weren't up before new years but oh well! All the shopping and preparations for Christmas took quite a chunk out of my time so that's why (plus the vlogs weren't processing). Now from what I can recollect and gather, the 2nd quarter of 2014 was probably the busiest one so let's jump straight into it!APRIL
Ricky's 18th Birthday:
On April 18th, Ricky hosted a house party for his 18th! From memory it was a great night and I had quite a lot of fun, mainly because he had an awesome dance floor set up and I literally spent majority of my night dancing til my calves were sore with Nancy. Other highlights from the evening included: gathering around to listen to his funny birthday speech, pigging out on the candy bar, getting dissed by the likes of Lily for eating too much, getting our shoes dirty from a white substance in his backyard, laughing with Lily and Nancy over the 'MC', going in and out of the dance room for fresh air and fooling around out the front of his house at the end of the night. Mikkey's 18th Birthday:
On April 20th, Mikkey rounded up the group again to have an early 18th birthday celebration at her house! It was a nice night with everyone pretty much just catching up with one another whilst doing what we do best - eating and mucking around. The party started off with us stuffing our faces on 'fancy' foods such as oysters and salmon, followed by us venturing off to the park when it was really dark which meant everyone whipped out their phone flashlights and went crazy with it. Oh, we also encountered this really creepy abandoned chair which was so reminiscent of a number of horror movies that we quickly ran back to her house. The rest of the night was quite customary as to how we usually celebrate Mikkey's birthday, which was lounging around bickering with each other, playing with her younger relatives, engaging in funny games of 'Truth or Dare' and 'Never have I ever', trying to get a group photo taken without breaking anything and ending the night off crammed into her room taking photos on her MacBook. HOWEVER, this year was slightly more special because we had a special guest - Zayn Malik, which me and Lily had a lot of fun with hehe.

Vi's 18th Birthday:
On May 10th a few of us (Jennys, Sandy, Lily and Cindy) attended Vi's house party to celebrate her 18th! The whole night was overall pretty chilled and a vast majority of the event was spent outside eating bo kho and other asian goodies whilst chatting and getting to know some people out of our usual circle, which I personally found quite refreshing. I swear a large chunk of my memory was of Justin and how he kept trying to unlock people's phones - which to my complete surprise he actually managed to do. Once he unlocked mine and Cindy's phones I was just like, what?! How'd you do that?! I still don't know how he achieved it tbh. Also managed to have a great laugh with Lily, as you will figure out why in the vlog and then ended the night off at Flake maccas having a major jam sesh together. (dslr photo cred to Anousa)

Tien's 18th Birthday:
On May 16th, my dear neighbourino held a house party for her 18th! Needless to say, it was the most convenient party I've ever attended and so I arrived on the early side for once, yay. To my limited memory, the evening was super fun and a vast amount of time was spent nibbling on foods, being peer pressured into AND peer pressuring others to drink (cough cough Leanna), meeting some new friends (aka calling Ling a basic bitch for most the night), watching people get turnt and subsequently die ('YAK' queen Vy), and of course, ya'll should know me by now, dancing and singing to our hearts content in her living room. I was major asian flushed that night but nonetheless, (dslr photo cred to anousa).

My 18th Birthday:
On May 31st I held a really last minute house party for my 18th! I'm usually fairly organised when it comes to my birthday celebrations but for some reason I wasn't super keen to organise this one. Yes. One of the most important birthday milestones, I know. With that in mind, I only invited a select group of friends (thanks for making it btw!) and we spent the night feasting on foods my grandma prepared, playing: 'beer' pong, the cup flipping game as well as various card games, being loud and chilling out with the fairy lights. The after party was spent with Stacey and Nancy where we watched Occulus and Nancy was so freaked out from it that she left my house at like 4am to go home. Still judge her til this day.

Armin Only Intense Tour - Melbourne:
Just before semester one swotvac kicked in, my sister, her friend Lyly, and I flew down to Melbourne for the weekend to see Armin Van Buuren perform his Armin Only show! It was one of the most enjoyable weekends I've ever experienced inducting me into my 'legal' life as an 18 year old, woop woop.
(6/6/14) - Flew down in the evening for the Friday show (which we originally had tickets for the Saturday one but had to swap because Anjelina was supposed to come with us) and received quite a few weird looks from the other passengers because we had our 'festival' attire and makeup all ready but whatevs! Once we set all our luggage off at the apartment (we stayed at SouthbankONE in the city), we went straight to Hisense Arena where the show had already commenced. There was quite a lot of people - and a few Zyzz wannabes. To keep it short and simple, as my first legal event, it wasn't what I had imagined it to be - which was people fully dancing and into it, but instead people just standing there shall I say, 'mesmerised' by Armin's music, which was a tad awkward because I felt like a weirdo dancing alone but nonetheless, Armin was so good (esp. haunted, sound of the drums and ping pong) and I was totally tired by the end of the night when it ended at 4am.

(7/6/14) - It was so hard to get out of bed the next morning. I wanted to curl up into a ball and keep sleeping but we had to make the most out of the short time we were there so I sucked it up! First stop OTD was good ol' Gold Leaf yumcha at Sunshine, then onto the well known 'Lux Bite', which is home to some of the famous desserts featured on earlier seasons of Master Chef! Everything was so pretty. After that we stopped by Crown to window shop and then finally back to the apartment to rest before I went to pick up Anjelina, get ready and then back to Crown where we walked around for ages trying to decide where to eat. It was also my first time gambling at crown and we won $27 woo! (which we lost back, oops). Visited the grocery/liquor store next to our apartment to buy alcohol and THE CLERK DIDN'T ASK FOR MY ID. I was so shocked and ready to use it though. Sadness. Anyway, got all dolled up, took a myriad of selfies, pre drank and then Anjelina and I were off to lose our clubbing virginities together (too cute) at Fashion Lounge. Although there were two floors I felt as though the club was tiny! We spent majority of our time jammin' upstairs at RnB/Hip Hop/Old School because downstairs (Bangers/EDM) resembled a sardine can and I was terrified of this man that pretty much stared me down all night. Survived three hours of dancing in heels and we called it quits at 3am. Dived into bed and literally chatted our way to sleep.
Crashed at my aunty's house on Sunday catching up on sleep before our flight home. Seriously was a hectic weekend!

Nancy's 18th Birthday:
On June 13th the home slice held her 18th birthday at Oaks iStay with an apartment that had an amazing view! Went early to help her check in and do some grocery shopping, which was a mission and a half. We ALONE carried what seemed like a tonne of soft drinks back to the apartment with our fingers nearly snapping off and like 10 pit stops along the way. Better appreciate those chasers ya'll had now! The night is a bit of a blur now but I vividly remember Packer gifting Nancy half a watermelon, having impromptu and dramatic dnms in the bathroom which I fell over for, late night pizza/slurpee runs with the birthday girl, Ling and Mingy, as well as watching parts of the world cup with those who stayed over. Congrats! You've reached the end of my 2nd quarter recap. That probably took a while if you watched all the vlogs as well so yeah, once again sorry that this took me like 2 weeks to write up and I'll speak to you again in the 3rd quarter :)
