2014 Recap: 4th Quarter
Thursday, July 2, 2015 @ 12:06 AM
Okay, I have one month of free time on my hands to smash out a bunch of posts so lets get right into it and finish off recapping the fourth and last quarter of 2014!OCTOBER
I Am Hardwell Tour:
On the 5th of October, Nancy and I went to see Hardwell at Riverstage after making some last minute plans. I'm actually so glad I convinced her to go because we had a pretty good time and I was able to tick seeing Hardwell live off my bucket list. We arrived fairly early so we just sat around and soaked up the atmosphere of Kill The Buzz, but once Hardwell took over we gave our calves the biggest workout of the year. Omg there was this one guy who kept insisting on taking a photo with Nancy on his shoulders and it was so funny cause he was like "make sure it looks good", like mate you ain't ever gon' see it anyway HA. Spent some time with Mechelle and Sharen and then once it ended Nancy and I headed over to The MET where the after party was held and met up with some of the girls for Nhung Bui's birthday. Let me just tell you that at one stage in the club this group of indian men full tried to corner all of us but we escaped and they pretty much stalked us through the whole club. It was terrifying yet hilarious at the same time. It was actually a hella good night in hindsight.
Drinks were damn overpriced may I add
The mosh pit area was crazy so we stayed on the grassy parts
This is one of the crappy photos I took of that guy and Nancy :')
Sweat patches galore
Quite proud of this photo hehe

Andy's 18th Birthday:
On October 11th, a surprise birthday party was held for Andy's 18th, at an apartment! The evening was pretty chilled and a small number of us went club/bar hopping afterwards at Hot Gossip, My Place and Lust. We kept complaining about how shit Lust was so we literally ran back and forth like two or three times which was pretty entertaining, and it was also nice to experience different clubs and their demographics for once. Andy also seemed to be enjoying himself so that made the night better!
Neon Run:
On the 18th of October, Lily, Hellen, Stacey and I participated in the Neon Run! After meeting up with Stacey at the city, we all walked over to the Riverstage to sign in and collect our event packages. We were team John Cena (this took me and Lily forever to come up with) and were part of the 5SOS jogging group. We took our sweet time sitting around getting geared up, taking photos and admiring other peoples' outfits before we decided to go grab some Nandos. Prior to the actual run, there was a massive neon rave party for everyone to enjoy and omg we had such a blast fist pumping and laughing. The aesthetic was real because the area was lit up with everyone's flashing lights - had to be there moment. The run itself spans 5km around QUT and the Southbank area and has several music 'zones' of different genres. I mainly ran with Stacey, but by the end all four of us agreed that it felt way shorter than 5km (which I think is a good thing) and were proud that we didn't die along the way. The post-run neon rave was what made the night for me tbh - there was even a glow in the dark sharpie zone! I could've danced until close but we were getting peckish so we ended a great day off with some Madtongsan. Would recommend this event if you've got $50 to spare and want to get some exercise in whilst raving the night away.
Our awesome tags
This photo made it onto the large screen and we got so excited :')

Laura's 18th Birthday:
Laura actually had two celebrations for her 18th - the first being a dinner on the 26th at Cloudland. The food was decent for the most part, but what made it interesting was that we were all trying to be fancy whilst eating it, well, at least our end of the table was. Note, eating a pizza with a knife and fork is not worth it. The venue itself was quite pretty and I'm so sad I didn't even get a photo with Laura that night.
For her second celebration, it was a three-way joint birthday halloween house party at her crib on the Goldcoast! I think our group of friends were the last ones to arrive and upon arriving we were all like "WOAH" because all the other guests were fully in costume, whereas we just kinda half assed it haha. The house party was so much fun and I really enjoyed running around and meeting new people. Some costumes were really creative too - Mat and gang's ebola suits and masks included! Before going home we decided to make the most out of our time at the coast so our group headed to Surfers to hangout on the beach and have some Hungry Jacks. No rAgrets. (dslr photo cred to Lena)
Only took two photos at the dinner and they're bad ones, oops.

NOVEMBER
Hellen's Pre-formal:
On November 18th, Corinda had their year 12 formal, which means my favourite veggie Hellen had her pre-formal at Roma Street Parklands. Of course being top notch [and her only] friends, Lily, Nancy and I attended (Cindy couldn't because she had an exam, sadly). The pre-formal was pretty standard with just the usual photo taking, however they did have some problems with their limo so in the end Lily ended up driving Hellen to the formal. It was such a proud moment for us as friends (lame) and reminded the rest of us who were there how quickly time flew from our own formal. (dslr photo cred to Alesscia).
HAHAHA Kenny holding this corsage for ages

Jennie's 18th Birthday:
On the 29th of November, Jennie celebrated her 18th by having a day out at Currumbin Rock Pools/Springbrook National Park. The drive to Currumbin was a long yet refreshing one because we all experienced ourselves getting deeper and deeper into 'nature' and out of the city - reflected by every person saying 'THERE'S NO WIFI HERE' as we drew closer to the location. Had a little bbq at the rock pools and everyone had a turn at trying to inflate the little raft boat we had. Then after the feed, those who felt adventurous went for a swim/attempted to swing off the ropes - which Steven succeeded in! The next part of the day took place literally up the winding road at Springbrook where we trekked to, and had a blast at the waterfalls! The scenery was somewhat surreal, not to mention when some people jumped off the rocks. For those not so courageous, we stayed and swam in this little area which I don't know how to describe but damn was it cold. Once we were done we stopped off at a little fish and chip shop to eat and then parted ways where some of us girls went to Jupiter's so Jennie could test her luck. Amazingly Jennie won like $60 which would be the money spent to meet Timothy DeLaGhetto that same night - which was a pretty entertaining time. It was such an adventurous and tiresome day and it was memorable because it was something we don't do very often. (photo cred to Nhu Thi, Linh and Jennie).

The heat/sun was real when cooking
The almighty raft - was a pain to inflate

I clung onto those rocks for dear life cause I can't swim well haha

DECEMBER
Melbourne Trip + Stereosonic:
In December I flew down to Melbourne for about a week or so to catch up with my best friend and to go to Stereosonic! The weather the weekend of Stereosonic (6th and 7th Dec) was in no way ideal for a music festival - it was gloomy, raining and not to mention, hella cold! Nonetheless, the experience was overall quite incredible. The music was good and the artists did not disappoint. On Day 1 I actually bumped into an old primary school friend of whom I hadn't seen for about 8 years and I was actually surprised he recognised me in the crowd. By the end of the first day I couldn't even sleep that night because my aching feet kept me up. Highlights of Day 2 were definitely bumping into Mylinh (we didn't even plan it), seeing Diplo's set - I don't think I've danced that hard before IN MY LIFE, and the closing of the festival.
I lost my ID and got it back within a week so I was so relieved to walk through those gates
Mainstage
Didn't even realise we got photo bombed until I got home HAHAHA

Vlog:
Now I'll just leave some photos of other small things I did on the trip. I didn't get to stay as long as I would've liked because I had to get back and do a deferred exam.
4TH DEC: Trip to the City for Mr Burger, H&M + Dessert Story
Pretty good
Sleepovers at Anjelina's where we watched all the V/H/S movies (they're fucking weird)
11TH DEC: Last day traditions - Schnitz + Movies
I think we watched Horrible Bosses 2... I really can't remember.
... AND THERE WE HAVE IT, FOLKS! 2014 is officially a wrap on this blog. I'm so relieved to be quite honest. 2014 was actually one of the better years and so much happened - thanks to everyone turning 18. Now the attention can be turned to my tumblr where I'll be posting vlogs before I catch up on 2015! Thanks for reading. Shoutout to Lily & Hellen.
